Open Arms Housing provided permanent supportive housing to 84 formerly homeless women in Washington, D.C. from 2017-2018. There were 64 women in scattered-site units, 20 in single site buildings and 23 are currently in the housing search. These programs had high success rates and maintained a 94% rate of housing stability. OAH fulfilled a Challenge Grant from The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation. Rosanne Haggerty, Executive Director of Community Solution and a MacArthur Fellow, and a leader in ending homelessness, (below) spoke at the 2018 Annual Fundraiser, her words were inspiring— “Ending homelessness, she said, is not harder than ending small pox—and we did that!”
Two clients also spoke at the 2018 Annual Fundraiser. The first, Matrice Jones, lives at The Dunbar. Deborah Veney lives in a scattered site unit in SE Washington.
Current and former board members of OAH.
