Speaker Bios

Mr. Jiminez is the director of the FDIC’s Office of Legislative Affairs. Jiminez previously was the acting deputy director of legislative affairs at the FDIC and was a legislative attorney/advisor since July 2012. Prior to joining the FDIC, Jiminez served as senior counsel for banking and trade for the U. S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Small Business and as a senior financial services legislative assistant to U.S. Representative Nydia Velazquez. Jiminez has also served as an attorney at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. He earned a law degree from The Ohio State University and a bachelor of science with dual majors in biology and history from Tulane University.

Ms. Ward focuses her practice on financial services and the housing finance market. She has experience with issues related to housing finance reform, servicing, insurance, consumer financial services, blockchain and community economic development.  Ms. Ward frequently works on issues involving the U.S. House Financial Services Committee, U.S. Senate Banking Committee, U.S. Department of the Treasury, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and the U.S. Federal Reserve System.  Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Ward was an attorney with the Treasury Department during the economic crisis. She focused on, among other topics, community development financial institutions, tax credit programs, the creation of the Federal Insurance Office (FIO), the Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC), funding for small business development and other federal grant programs. Kara has her JD from GW and did her undergraduate work at Georgetown.

Mr. Yi brings to his practice a deep understanding of the financial services and legislative sectors, having served as General Counsel of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) from 2015 to 2019. In that role, he was involved in major banking policy initiatives and legislation as well as the implementation of related rulemaking. Mr. Yi also had supervisory responsibility over FDIC enforcement and litigation activity. In addition, he served on the FDIC's fintech steering committee, and established a fintech working group within the Legal Division. As FDIC General Counsel, Mr. Yi served as Chairman of the Legal Advisory Group of the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) and as a government member of the Administrative Conference of the United States (ACUS).
